Are and Vemdalen are the two leading ski resorts in the country, offering excellent snow conditions, terrific customer service and breath-taking landscapes. Are
Situated close to the Norway border, is Sweden’s number one ski centre. With 3 ski areas, there is a tantalising number of runs to try with magnificent mountains and forests as your backdrop. Duved offers the best carving slopes in the area, whereas the resort’s highest point can be found in Are Village, alongside a range of off-piste opportunities. Vemdalen is further north than Are and offers 49km of direct skiing, 58 pistes and a variety of options both above and below treelines. Vemdalen and Bjornike are 2 ski resorts linked togther on the same lift pass. The terrain here is of a high standard and the Swedish National Championships have been staged here in the past. With many ski instructors on-site, it is a great place for beginners and intermediates to develop their skills, with lessons delivered in cross-country and telemark skiing. Lift passes here also include the similarly-sized Bjornrike area, along with the smaller Klovsjo and Storhogna resorts, offering a wide variety of runs to choose from.

The nearest airport to both resorts is Are Ostersund. This is situated 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Are and 2 hours and 25 minutes away from Vemdalen, with many transfer options available for travellers.
Ski passes in Are vary depending on when you travel and discounts are available for purchasing in advance. There are 50 ski lifts across the resort that make it easy for tourists to explore everything it has to offer. Vemdalen has a total of 35 lifts that are all accessible through a ski pass.
