Eiger Hotel, Mürren, Switzerland

All hoteliers take note! This is how a hotel should be run. The welcome we received from every member of staff was simply wonderfull! The hotel was spotlessly clean , gloriously warm, and the food was very good. The hospitality did not stop after our arrival either , the whole week was was filled with small gestures from the family owners susanna and Adrian and their staff , gestures which make all the difference to your holiday . There is a relaxing spa within the hotel , and a great bar . The resort is stunning ! But quiet, no nightclubs here . We spent Christmas 2011 here and wouldn't hesitate to book for next year.

Lovely train journey from Zurich, (4 changes though - but easy). Whole ski area is connected by trains, Mürren village has very little nightlife but the slopes above the town are amazing and quite quiet perhaps because it is a mountain resort and slightly off the beaten track. Hotel Eiger was amazing with great staff, nice pool and a lovely spa. As a couple we are normally put on a table out of the way but here we were treated as well as a big group or family and given a table with a mountain view every night. Lots of activities for non-skiers such as sledding, hiking trails, ice skating etc. Hope to return next year to explore more of the area.
