Hotel Montpelier, Verbier, Switzerland

This is an excellent place to stay. Rooms are warm, beds comfortable, bathrooms spotless - two basins, bath and shower in ours - plenty of storage space. The food is remarkably good value for money and well cooked - three choices of hot dishes for breakfast, afternoon tea - from the soup to biscuits and cake - freshly baked every day, varied four course dinner with coffee and very good and plentiful wine. For example, Venison stew, duck breast, roast chicken. Our special diet - a real pain, no onions - catered for without any reminders. The staff are superb - helpful,charming, nothing too much trouble. As a result, the chalet has a very welcoming, cosy ambience. Bus is 2 minute walk away, bar very reasonable for Verbier, free wifi. Pool is smaller than photo, but with a large sports centre across the road featuring a giant pool, I fail to see why people during our stay have been complaining about it. Lastly, this is a four diamond catered chalet, not a four star hotel - perhaps why there are some undeserved, negative reviews on Trip Advisor from people who were expecting a similar standard to the W Hotel or Chalet d' Adrien - who should then pay their exhorbitant prices. Given the cost of eating out in Verbier in general, this chalet hotel is unbeatable on value, especially late season.

Chalet Hotel Montpelier 13 - 20 January 2013 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Montpelier. Our room was spacious, comfortable and with wonderful views across the valley from the balcony. The food was both plentiful and well cooked and presented. The staff were always very helpful and attentive. We will return.
