What's included in a catered chalet?
You can ski as hard as you like all day and not have to worry about where to eat or what to cook as your meals are freshly prepared right in your own accommodation. It is great value for money and the easiest way to enjoy the slopes.
With a catered package a choice of continental or cooked breakfast, afternoon tea and a three course dinner (including wine) is included in your flight, transfer and accommodation package. Some of our more premium operators even do canapés and aperitifs and a glass of kir before the dinner is underway! And if you hadn’t had enough food then a traditional Savoyard cheese board usually follows after the last course.
What can I expect from a chalet holiday?
As chalets are usually smaller, meals are generally enjoyed in a communal dining space, cooked by your own chalet hosts.
A choice of continental or cooked breakfast will fuel you before you head out for the day and you’re be welcomed back with freshly baked afternoon tea. Dinner is cooked in house each night with one or two nights off in a standard week, depending on the operator, in which you can go and explore local restaurant options.
Most chalets in Europe adopt a traditional alpine style with original features authentic to the area. Chalets generally feature a public lounge area, dining area and boot room and sometimes feature hot tubs, open fireplaces, balconies or a bar.
What type of accommodation options are there with catered chalets?
Chalet‘s range in size from 4 people to 20+ but adopt a more personal experience than what you would find in a hotel. You can choose to book a single room within a chalet, sharing the building with others, or if you have a group, you can look for a suitable chalet to take sole occupancy of so you can enjoy your very own chalet on the mountain!
Iglu Ski also offers a selection of Chalet Hotels which include the same chalet style service and catering in larger hotel-style accommodation. Most rooms take 2 people and can usually be arranged as a twin or a double room. There are also chalets that have single rooms available and triple and quad rooms, great for families. Most chalet rooms have ensuite or private bathroom facilities.
