If only the weather was better - 24/02/2020
Overall

The Tyrolerhof is a very comfortable hotel with a willing cheerful staff Food was good and plentiful ( not haute cuisine) Junior suite was well worth the supplement Sauna and steam room good. Pool pretty but limited. Our weather was bad so only 3 days skiing and that was v windy. No one’s fault but the fact we still had a good time reflects well on the other attractions of Zell and the comfort of the hotel

This hotel and the entire resort caters, first priority, for the British. The hotel's service was first class - German was a language rarely heard. The dinner meal was disappointing - usually a smallish piece of unhappy meat or fish on a bed of chopped vegetables. Nothing Austrian about it. All was served with great decorum: a triumph of style over content. Having slated dinner, the other offerings were generous but not especially Austrian. I missed the prospect of authentic Austrian cooking. This I contrast with any decent UK pub or restaurant. As for the skiing, there were zillions of ski lemmings - crowded lifts - happy folks enjoying this but not me. A thoroughly commercialised resort and hotel for Britons who, apparently, care not a jot for being in a foreign country. I stopped for a coffee and in strode a Brit who ordered in English without any attempt at the local language. OK, I'm naive and some would say, "grow up" it's the others who should learn English if they want our trade". Final word: "Zell am Essex"

All the family at Zell am Zee - 12/01/2015
Overall

Fifteen of us (ages 20 up) at the Hotel Tirolerhof. The kindest staff looked after us wonderfully. We could have wanted nothing more from the hotel and the town. The skiing was not great, though; just OK, We'd skied pretty much every piste by the end of day three and all the pistes on the glacier after one morning. For the non-skiers in the party, the town, walks and hotel spa facilities were good. The wifi worked like a dream! For the cross-country skiers, not so good: the reps knew nothing about it and the pistes, when found, were icy.

Review : Austrian Magic - 18/04/2011
Overall

The Tirolerhof is a superb hotel. Staff excellent, food excellent, spa and accommodation very good. You can feel the quality and relaxed atmosphere engulf you as you walk through the door. Zell am See itself is in a beautiful location, offering an unusual combination of lakeside spa town and ski resort. The ski-ing is a bit limited, with a reasonable selection of reds and blues and quite steep blacks to get back down in the late afternoon. Nothing very long but pleasant forest runs. It's worth going through to Kaprun to the glacier for a day - free with Zell am See lift pass. Longer, wide reds though a bit windswept. This is really a place to go if - like us - you want to enjoy the comfort and relaxation as much as the piste bashing.

I stayed at the Tirolohof in January 07. It is a fabulous hotel and the staff are exemplary. The food is excellent and the room was very comfortable. It is ideally located in the town but far enough away from the main streets to be nice and quiet. I thoroughly recommend it.
