The best village in La Plagne - 03/05/2008
Overall

We have been traveling to La Plagne for about 8 years and our favorite resort is Belle Plagne because it's prettier than the others. It is a virtually guaranteed snow-sure resort. After having skied Canada, Austria, America and other parts of France we still return here for the ski in, ski out facility and the value for money. I’m just loading up the car for this weekend as we are returning for the 2nd time this year. We normally spend New Year there and that is also spectacular.

Belle Plagne is definitely the best resort I have ever been to. Not masses of night life, but enough. Great for families and the ski school was very well run, like a proper school, unlike some I have been to. They had my 5 year old skiing down the mountain in 3 days. This really is a ski to your door resort. I have been to many resorts all over the world and try to never repeat the same resort twice, but when the terrain and resort are that good it surely can't get any better? There are masses of long wide sweeping blues, with some really good long, well groomed steep reds - enough to keep you happy all week.

We are fairly new to skiing but have just come back from a week at Cassiopee apartments in Belle Plagne. Both accommodation and resort are fantastic. The rooms are quite small but we were 2 adults and a 14 year old daughter and they were fine. The apartments looked like they had been recently renovated. Really warm and great location (you could literally ski in and out). The resort itself was lovely. The blues are a bit red in a place or two, but we managed and as I said we are quite new to it. The Arpette lift at Plagne Belle Cote takes you to a wide choice of runs. We really like the colossus which is on the left opposite Arpette, this takes you to some really scenic easy-ish runs which ends with a lovely tree lined run. The resort restaurants are good. K2 was great for our last night treat but still reasonable price. We tried out Belle Plagne instead of Courchevel and much preferred. The only downside was the devil of a transfer from Grenoble (ok on the way there, but a little trying at home time).
