The Three Valleys, France. - 09/04/2011
Overall

We stayed in the small town of Bozel. The Three Valleys are easily accessed by the local, free shuttle bus that travels between Bozel & Le Praz, the base station, from which a small bubble connects skiers to the main Courchevel area. Accommodation was at the Hotel De La Place in the centre of Bozel run by Stephan & his parents on a bed & breakfast basis. Conditions were warmer than usual for this time of year & money is tight this season so the slopes were unusually empty for this time of year ( 26/3/11 - 02/04/11). The off piste conditions changed after 1.30 pm every day, such that the avalanche risk was 3/5 ie 60% - advisable to stay on the piste. As Bozel is in a central location, access is possible to the La Plagne/Les Arcs ski areas (Paradiski) & also Valmorrel. Conditions were better in the Paradiski area than the Three Valleys but Valmorell could only be accessed via bubble from the Champaluc area . Eating out is not a problem in Bozel, ther are plenty of pizzerrias and French restaurants & the Le Roch bar opposite the La Place hotel has a very nice restaurant. I would recommend the Pizzeria Le Bonrieu run by Marcelle & Patrick in the Rue Emile Machet — nice wine list too! Bon appetite & good skiing!!!

Courchevel is without a doubt my favourite resort. It caters for all levels, has guaranteed snow, wonderful mountain reatuarants and a traditional friendly feel in the village. It is not cheap but worth every penny!

I stayed in Courchevel 1850 over Christmas 2008 with my two children 26 & 24. I was a beginner and they weren't! We had a fantastic holiday, it met all our needs. It is a lovely resort with great snow and nice friendly people....not cheap though, but worth it!!

If you have not been to Courchevel yet I think you will find it hard to ski a better resort, you can find good snow all day long. I have been going for 15 years. I have skied at least12 times and I rate it as a top resort to ski. Some of the bars are quite expensive, but there are also some cheaper bars. 1650 is good value, some of the restaurants cost a little more but look around in 2008 I found a gem down from the bar le jump which had well priced pasta and pizza. Also in the John le Blanc ski shop they won’t sell you anything that is not good for you. Enjoy as I have done! If you want to know more get in touch with Iglu!
