You must ski a black run to get in or out of Sauze d'Oulx - 28/03/2019
Overall

We are second week skiers and hoped to ski beyond just the local runs around Sauze but its impossible after a judge order the blue run and lift that serves it was closed falling a death. Its possible the run and lifts connecting in and wont be open next year. This meant we would have to ski down a black run, something we couldn't do.

The accommodation is art deco style. The rooms are dark, no central light. The beds are comfortable and the rooms warm. There is no shortage of hot water. A TV in your room and wi fi is available at no extra cost. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The meals are waiter served and take at least 1.5 hrs to serve in the evenings. The food is of good equality and typically Italian. Breakfasts are good and continental in style, plenty of choice. I would stay there again. A bus leaves every morning at regular intervals for the ski slopes, and it's free. The village is enchanting, although a little noisy early hours from late night revellers.

Sauze - 14/03/2011
Overall

Large ski area, yep, Great snow record, yep, Cheap food in resort / mountain, yep, Cheap drink in resort / mountain, yep - Ski in / ski out, yep (from certain locations). Pretty village, yep, Scenic mountain, yep, Short transfer, yep, Affordable packages, yep Sauze really has it all. The ONLY down point is really the lift system... there are no high speed bubbles from Sauze and you can spend quite a while on the chairs getting about. Also there is NO lift of any kind in the snow park!! The runs are not challenging but are fun and there is plenty access to off-piste. Hard to beat.

Overall

The resort of Sauze is cosy and cute, with cobbled streets and quaint restaurants. It is vibrant at night and pretty with a vast display of twinkling lights. Because of its location up the mountainside, Sauze is either uphill or downhill, not a lot in between and this makes for getting to and from the slopes tiresome. The hills are steep in places. I would suggest that this resort is more suited to adults and those that have skied before. The ski bus system isn’t great and the vast majority walk to and from the nearest lift. Sauze does have wonderful views and when we were there it was blue skies and sunshine all the way! It has a good sunshine record and although the snow season has been great this year (2008/09), we experienced rocks on the lower part of the runs down to the village. However, the ski area for intermediates is fab and the link with Sestriere and Sansicario make the walk to and from the lifts worthwhile.
