We had a brilliant week in Tignes, we went in mid-April and the conditions were perfect. Snow at night, sun by day. The Espace Killy ski area is fantastic for intermediates. We had some advanced skiers/boarders in our group who enjoyed some great off-piste. The children had lessons in the excellent Marmottons ski school in Tignes Le Lac and made great progress.

Had a great time in the Lavachet area last April, stayed above Scottys in a skiworld "chalet" but spent the bulk of our time in the bar opposite LE BRASEROS which seemed to be the main hub of the action in Lavachet and Tignes!, live music outside on the terrace at apres ski and all the footy made for a great hol. Plus of course superb snow considering the time of the season .

The skiing here is great. I did miss tree lined runs, but you cannot have everything. The pistes are wide and well groomed. I had some great skiing. I also do not think the resort was the eyesore that people claim. Although purpose built, it was clean, tidy and neat like everything else in France. The après scene here is quieter compared to its neighbor Val d'Isere, but you can still find lively bars and clubs.

This is an excellent resort catering for a wide range of difficulty. The altitude ensured great snow conditions.

Tignes is an excellent place to ski with loads of off piste and of course renowned pistes. Le Grande Motte is a superb run which could be managed by a confident beginner. We stayed at Club Med. This was our first time with Club Med and can thoroughly recommend it. With the euro in its current state, Club Med offers a good deal. Dining out in the resort can eat into your budget.
