Skiing in Hopfgarten
Sunny skiing up to 1825m with an over 1000m vertical drop make Hopfgarten one of the great Austrian resorts.
Beginners, however, will probably feel most at home in the charming little village of Hopfgarten. The 1850m Hohe Salve mountain has some very convenient nursery slopes right by the village(although these are first to go if the snow is bad) and there are also longer and very enjoyable blues further up the mountain.
Intermediates can cruise the whole Ski Welt from Hopfgarten and enjoy some of the best intermediate terrain in the world. Scheffau, Itter and Brixen are particularly good for experts. There are also some testing blacks reachable from the resort. The off-Piste is renowned in the Ski Welt and a local guide will help you make the most of it.
Snowboarders are well catered for with a decent fun park and half pipe not too far from the summit of Hohe Salve. Hopfgarten also plays host to some of the most fantastic cross-country trails in the whole Ski Welt.
