Skiing in Altenmarkt
Altenmarkt is connected with five ski areas so the options are so diverse! These areas are Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Grossarltal and Hochkönig. Shuttle bus services connect the areas to each other and with Salzburg too.
Skiing and snowboarding here is ideal for all levels and especially families. From large nursery areas, to challenging blacks over in Zauchensee and long cruisy runs in between all served by modern lifts means everyone will be satisfied.
There is a children’s ‘Playground Snow’ fun park which consists of a 6 metres long Speedboost, followed by rollers before skiing through a 7 metre long tunnel. It also has a number of small jumps and a double wave track.
For snowboarders, there is a snowpark and Altenmarkt/Radstadt also has 160km of cross country ski trails.
Snow conditions in Altenmarkt
Its ski lifts reach as high as 2600m so snow coverage is generally reliable. Snow coverage is at its best during February but the average snow depth during the season at the summit is 39 inches and 28 inches at its base. The area is also covered with numerous snow cannons to ensure optimum snow conditions for bad winter seasons.
Après ski, restaurants and other activities in Altenmarkt
The town itself has many shops and boutiques to wander around and there a few restaurants and bars in the area which offer a low key apres ski atmosphere.
