Hotel Alpine Palace, Hinterglemm, Austria

First trip to Hinterglemm with my 11 year old for Half Term ski (although not our first European skiing trip). Alpine Palace is a great hotel. Know what you are getting though. It’s a five star hotel (in every way), but you can opt for three star rooms (and they are 3 star only: small and functional, just…..). 3 stars (and the cost saving) worked for us as we were barely in the room. Leaving early, returning very late. In the meantime, we had the benefit of a great hotel: 1. Outstanding restaurant and service (really high quality food) 2. Amazing outdoor pool and jacuzzi - open until 10 at night 3. Best relaxation / sauna facilities I have seen 4. Very close to the centre of town and the lifts (almost ski in: ski out for the Reiterkogel) 5. Great staff and wider facilities (great boot room with heated lockers) Hinterglemm is AMAZING:- 1. Skicurcus has endless, well-kept pistes. Super-fast ski lifts (barely a queue even at half term) 2. Bonkers Austrian apres - Goat Stall is especially hilarious 3. Pretty, small town - all the lifts are relatively close 4. Simple - 90 min (or so) connection to Salzburg (very easy) 5. Great ski shops and instructors 6. Varied slopes (although perhaps not a huge amount for the super expert) 7. Night Park (open till 21.00) and numerous fun parks much enjoyed by my son (and me) Highly recommended - well done Iglu Ski for recommending it
