Simply the Best - 12/01/2018

We are here on the last night of a 7 night stay and cannot speak highly enough of Justine and her team at this chalet. The food has been exceptional and the service is excellent with a “ can do “ attitude with nothing being too much trouble. We hope to return and highly recommend this chalet and it has been exceptional value for money.

Long walk - 20/03/2018

As usual the ski company try to diminish the distance to lifts and town centre. The Horn lifts are possibly closer, but are rarely used due to poor snow, and limited terrain. The Hannenkahm lifts at the top end of town are a good 15 minute trudge, especially in ski boots. As most of the bus services call here, it is a good idea to rent a ski locker for the week - takes 2 x adult skis, boots, etc, cost €6 per day. Bus stops and timetables are not convenient, although always on time. They do not suit the chalet location, and are few in mid/ late afternoon, especially from the Mittersill/ Pass Thurn/ Jochberg side. However they are a boon for getting back to Hannenkahm from longer ski tours. The walk to the pretty old town centre is indeed only 6 minutes, with good cafes and restaurants, including Italian for those not disposed to typical German fare of potato, dumplings and wurst/ frankfurter. The chalet is a little tired, and four days to fix a toilet seat caused extended embarrassment. However the reps and chefs did a very good job. A change of chalet staff after arrival was unfortunate. The lounge is far too small - only fit for say 10 people, and the wi-fi range very limited. The good snow in early 2018 provided good skiing throughout the area during March, with reasonably modern lifts and good piste management. Home slopes suffer as always in the afternoon, so lower runs are best tested just before a good lunch! Weekends are crowded with the Munich brigade. The trip to bowls above Westerndorf are worth the "express" bus trip via Skirast/ Aschau and the extra €6 per weekly lift pass. However Kitzbuhel has better skiing than the rest of the (lower) Ski Welt, also accessible by train. We would give more stars to Chalet Linda if the location was better, the decor updated, and facilities improved.
