Skiing in Le Praz de Chamonix
Le Praz de Chamonix and Chamonix are connected by the Brevent-Flégère area of Chamonix valley which is accessible by the Flégère lift. The Flégère area above the village mainly caters for intermediates but is also the perfect spot to catch some sun, as the sunniest spot in the valley due to its south facing position.
The Plan Praz and Le Trappe areas are best for beginners and first time skiers, whilst more experienced skiers will enjoy the un-pisted black run from Flégère that runs into Les Praz village.
The Chamonix valley has a reputation, which is well deserved, for some of the best skiing in the Alps. As the marketing literature says, “Chamonix skiers are not quite the same as others.” Chamonix does not really offer doorstep skiing, but each area provides more than enough to keep everyone happy for at least a day, so once you have arrived at your chosen spot there is no need to do anything but ski.
Chamonix has skiing for all abilities, particularly advanced skiers who are looking for a challenge but intermediates are more than adequately looked after and Les Houches and Le Tour provide ideal pistes for beginners, with plenty of opportunities to progress.
