Hotel Ca Fiore, Bardonecchia, Italy

Booked through Igluski for first time, booking process was easy and got a much better deal than in the travel agents. I will break down the holiday in two Resort & Hotel. Firstly the Resort: The Campo Smith is the main area linked to 2 other areas Melezet and Jafferau, my wife who is an accomplished skier was pleasantly surprised with the variety of the slopes, nice long Blues, Reds and some challenging Blacks. The snow conditions were good at the start of the week and by the end of the week were excellent with a big dump on Thursday & Friday. Weekends are busy with the Italians from Turin making the most of the location, however during the week the slopes were very quiet. We did go the first week in February. Finally the Hotel: From the front of house to the cleaner they could not have done more, ensuring any query was answered and the rooms were spotless when we returned from the slopes. The food for an Hotel is absolutely fantastic with great variety each night, served by Daniel and the team very professionally. Overall I would heartily recommend both the Resort and the Hotel

This was my wife and my fifth skiing tour to Bardonecchia and fourth staying at Hotel Ca Fiore. While some may consider that tremendously unadventurous to visit what is, after all, a railway town in the Alps, the plain facts are that: * This little town has its charms - you just have to find them tucked away; * The skiing is ideal for intermediates (and OK for beginners), with plenty of scope for advanced intermediates to flash down tree-lined Olympic (Turin 2006) and other racing pistes, as well as exploring the more open areas of the Jafferau range; * The People all around are extremely friendly and love the British; * While the Turinese come to visit Bardy at the weekends, the queues are nowhere near as bad as most French/Austrian resorts and it is really quiet for the rest of the week; * The ski school staff are charming, extremely professional and have good English; * The whole resort is fairly priced; * If the weather/snow/light is really dreadful, Turin is only an hour away on the train (return trips 3 times per hour); * Hotel Ca Fiore has to be one of the best hotels in the Alps, with extremely friendly and helpful staff, a truly fabulous restaurant and well-furnished, clean and properly maintained rooms with comfortable beds. OK, so the town's Apres Ski isn't as lively (or expensive/ruinous) as elsewhere in the fashionable resorts but a Jacuzzi with a glass of something warming is good enough for me, and the reps organise some great events! So what more could you want, unless you are a "Black runs only" maniac or a sheer "fashionista", who wouldn't be seen dead anywhere other than St. Moritz? Go on, join us back at Bardonecchia, next year! Or, as they say in Italy: "Torna a Bardonecchia!"
