In the centre of San Candido, surrounded by panoramic views of the Dolomites, is Sporthotel Tyrol, a family-run treasure that’s been up and running since 1969.
Just a 5-minute walk from the Baranci lift, the hotel is conveniently located, yet enjoys a peaceful position in the town of San Candido. A mixture of modern and vintage décor adorns the public spaces, from traditional bar stools to ornate cupboards and Persian rugs. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and dotted with bygone furnishings to add a Tyrolean touch.
If you’re in need of some TLC, grab your cossie and head down to the Dolomiti SPA, complete with L-shaped indoor pool, hot tub, steam room and relaxation area. There are a handful of saunas too – but just so you know, you’ll only be able to go in them naked, just like the Austrians do.
Elsewhere in the hotel you’ll find the Taverna – a chill-out area housed in an exposed-brick room, with arched gateways and vaulted ceilings - where you can play a game of billiards or chill out in the TV room. Smaller guests can occupy themselves in the playroom, or spend time in the Mini Club, open from 3-11pm daily.
