Eagle joins skiers on French slopes
The Skiing with Eagles sessions are part of an initiative to reintroduce the birds to the region for biodiversity purposes. Each session lasts 45 minutes, and as a group of 4 you can nip down the slopes while an eagle flies around you and rests on your arm.
For £20 per person, it’s a great chance to support a good cause, while also getting one of the more unique mountain experiences you’ll ever have.
Sessions are on Wednesdays and Sundays at 10:30am, while the organisers also put on free falconry shows, where eagles, owls and other birds of prey demonstrate their agility and power.
The Morzine season is about to end, but the eagles will be back in the same slots for the 2025-26 season, too.

Festival season in full swing in the mountains
Notable mentions include Snowboxx Festival and Rock the Pistes Festival - both took place in the Portes du Soleil in mid-March, with Becky Hill and Hybrid Minds among the headliners.
Tomorrowland’s winter edition (pictured) also attracted huge crowds in Alpe d’Huez, with some of electronic dance music’s biggest names - like Armin van Buuren and Nina Kraviz.
The festival season isn’t done yet - April will see the Snowbombing and (comedy festival) Altitude in Mayrhofen, as well as XXL On The Snow in Les Arcs, and Zermatt Unplugged, among others.

Historic gondolas to be auctioned off
The legendary Savoleyres gondolas will be put up for sale in summer 2026, as the line they were on is getting new lifts.
The gondolas date back to 1970, and until recently were trundling along at 3m/s, getting people up from La Tzoumaz (1508m) to Savoleyres (2344m).
Details of the auction are still to come. The total weight of a gondola is 185kg, excluding the clamp and line.

Avoriaz prepares for annual bizarre competition
Now in its 5th year, the Fine Cup will take place on the blue piste (beginning opposite the Igloo Village) and will see various teams in spectacular fancy dress.
There’s also a DJ, food and drink - and usually great weather to accompany it all.
