Unique skiing Guinness World Record smashed in Austria
51-year-old Christian Flühr - already a holder of 13 separate world records! - put his energy into using 80 different ski lifts throughout the two areas on 31st January 2025.
Beginning at 4am and finishing at 6:52pm, he just about squeezed in the achievement, finishing in pitch black conditions. What made the feat more impressive was the fact he had to flip between SkiWelt (home to Söll and Ellmau, among others) and the KitzSki area (home to Kitzbühel), having completed the 58 lifts in the former.
The previous record was 70 lifts in a day - Flühr overtook this at 4:43pm.
Pictured above (middle left) celebrating with a trophy, Flühr described the feat as “one of the hardest, but also most exciting world records of my life”.
Windowless gondola attracts thrillseekers
The La Plagne-based attraction, officially called "Aerolive", can take 6 people up close to 300m from Roche de Mio to the Live 3000 glacier area, with skiers strapped in and leaning out the side full Titanic-style.
It has been a summer attraction in the Paradiski area for a number of years now, but the resort has moved to open it for its first ski season, with tickets costing €55 per person.

New chairlift in 3 Zinnen Dolomites opens up new skiing territory
The 6-seater, called “Porzen”, makes it possible now to get from 1,665m up to 1,977m at the top of Croda Rossa, where the extended piste begins - with routes suitable for both beginners and experienced skiers.
It comes equipped with heated seats and a bubble to shield skiers from the weather, and was built to the “strictest ecological standards”, with renewable energy being a key part of the process and continued operation.

New mountain karting experience in Alpe d’Huez
New for the 2024-25 season, you can jump in a kart with wheels at the back and a ski at the front, before racing round a purpose-built track in the Grandes Rousses area, near the bottom of the Pic Blanc 1 gondola.
You can go every day from 10am-3pm - or spice things up with a night-time session. During the February half-term school holidays, you can race on the Roger slope on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8pm, with tickets bought at the base of the Rifnel Express chairlift, just a bit along from the Grandes Rousses area.
