First ski trip to Bulgaria, Hotel overall very good. Resort ie slopes basic.. if you are a seasoned skier expect to be disappointed. Wind closed main gondola on two days, other slopes completely packed and basic. If you buy a 6 day ski pass there is no rest day! Had to buy an additional day. This was never mentioned. Travel Rep was uncontactable and zero information given on coach ride in! If it’s cheap food and beer your looking for 1st class.. to actually enjoy skiing average to poor.

Fantastic February half term week in Borovets in Bulgaria. Busy but expected during the holiday week. The resort is well managed. 3 interconnected ski areas.

whilst we very much enjoyed Borovets, Hotel Samokov is not a 4 star hotel. It may be 4 star by Bulgarian standards, but compared to other international hotels, it is more like 2 star. The food quality is poor and the hotel appears not to have been decorated in the last 20 years! Having said that, the ski instructors were fantastic! And it was only when we arrived that we discovered the ski pack we had paid for did not include helmets and the hotel had none spare. I was furious!!

I loved Borovets. It had a lot of rustic charm, settled in the pine woods at the base of the mountains. Wonderful scenery, great runs for beginners like myself, even the red runs are not too challenging. Loved and will be returning in 2020.
