Overall we had a great week skiing with a few negatives and many positives. The ski resort was better than I had expected with many restaurants and bars for apres ski. The ski school we booked was excellent and a short walk from our hotel - very well run and good lessons for our 8 and 7 year olds. The ski runs were limited for advance skiers but enough for 6 days skiing. The hotel Flora was OK. At the beginning they refused to help us with our rooms which were apart from our children (we resolved this as we had lovely neighbours who agreed to swap rooms) and there was no water on our first day! But the room service was great and the food acceptable. Very hot bar due to the pizza oven! The pool area was clean and OK but the water too cold for me. The massages were excellent.

I have never been to a ski resort before and had booked this for my partners 50th and, to be honest, I was dreading it. I went with my 21, 25, and 27-year-old children and only booked a ski package for the men in our party. I regret this very much as once at the resort me and my daughter wanted to join in but to book at the resort is far more expensive than the package offered when booking. Excellent service throughout from booking with Iglu and Balkan holidays were also first class. Private transfer at airport Mercedes people carrier. A great driver as I am a very nervous passenger and he was very careful. Hotel Rila was great, although beds were uncomfortable and evening dining was not the best but as a family, we are a bit fussy. The Spa facilities at the Rila is one of the best I have experienced and the pool despite being a little cold is amazing. Bulgaria is cheap to eat and drink and if you are looking for a holiday to suit all ages it's all there in Borovets. Definitely will return.
