One of France’s quirkier resorts, Flaine has a small selection of après establishments in which to let off some steam – although if you’re after somewhere seriously lively, then maybe have a look at our pick of the best après-ski resorts.
A purpose-built resort dating back to the 1960s, it’s nestled in the Grand Massif ski area at 1,600m and features Brutalist architecture – a style which often splits opinion. It’s largely car-free and has two quick funiculars connecting different layers of the resort (Flaine Forêt and Flaine Forum).
Flaine is a great place for beginners and intermediates (advanced skiers have a good selection of pistes to explore, too!) and has a reputation for being family-friendly.
As a result, there are certainly some good bars and a club, but don’t expect a party town!

The best bar for mountain partying
- Le Pente à Jules
Take ‘partying’ with a pinch of salt here – it’s certainly not a Folie Douce, but there are regular DJ sets at Le Pente à Jules, which attract a crowd for some dancing and fun.
This is usually a bit later on in the day, after many hours of good food, drink and lounging in the sun (at least in March and April!).
Our take: "We love finishing a sunny ski day at Le Pente à Jules. It’s got that quintessential Alpine afternoon vibe without being overly pretentious or overcrowded. If you want a fun, upbeat party atmosphere straight on the mountain before cruising down to the village, this is your go-to spot. Just remember to pace yourself for the ski back down!"
The best bars for live music and DJs
- Le White Pub
- Brasserie Les Cimes
Le White Pub has been one of Flaine's go-to party venues since 1976. There's a very British Pub vibe to the venue, and it’s got a large selection of beers and some good deals during happy hour. Live music is a regular fixture, and the pub becomes seriously lively once the band or DJ takes to the stage later in the evening.
Our take: "In our experience, The White Pub strikes the perfect balance between a relaxed pint straight off the slopes and a proper night out once the live music kicks in. The happy hour is genuinely good value, and the atmosphere is always incredibly friendly."
Brasserie Les Cimes adds to Flaine's strong evening atmosphere with its own happy hours, games, and regular live music. It's a superb choice if you're looking for a highly recommended restaurant with an après-ski menu that transitions into late-night drinks.
Our take: "Brasserie Les Cimes is our top pick if you don't want to move between a restaurant and a bar. The food is unpretentious and exactly what you crave after a cold day outside. Grab a table early for dinner and stick around for the rest of the evening as the vibe shifts from dining to drinks."
Another good bar for a lively evening
- Bam Pub
Located in Flaine Florêt and open from 4pm to 2am every day of the week, Bam Pub is a good place to get stuck into straight off the slopes. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is always great, and they serve hearty food and a large selection of beers.
There are also pool tables, darts boards, and other games for your entertainment. It's kid-friendly early on but turns into a club later in the evening, and on some nights, there's live music.
Our take: "Bam Pub is incredibly versatile. If you're staying in the Forêt area, it's dangerously easy to pop in for 'just one drink' and find yourself still there playing pool or dancing to live music hours later."
The best nightclub for partying ‘til the early hours
- Les Caves Nightclub
If you're wondering where the nightlife leads when everywhere else shuts, the answer is Les Caves. As the only dedicated nightclub in Flaine, it is the ultimate party venue in town. Opening its doors at 11pm and staying open right through until 5am, it’s the place to go for high-energy dancing and late-night events.
Our take: "Les Caves is a classic French Alpine club. It’s dark, loud, and guarantees a fun night out if you’ve still got the stamina. Because it's the only club in town, everyone who wants to stay out late ends up here, which creates a brilliantly mixed, fun-loving crowd."
Best place to watch sports
- Le White Pub
As well as its live music that we’ve mentioned above, this place has got a large screen TV which means you won’t miss whatever big events are going on in the sporting world.

Best place for some fun and games
- Galaxy Bowling
If you're looking for alternative options for non-skiers or families, Galaxy Bowling is a fantastic shout. Open from 5pm every day (and from 2pm when the weather closes in), it offers a great break from the traditional bar scene. Alongside the bowling alleys, there’s a games room featuring pool tables and TVs broadcasting live sport. Later on, the venue becomes more lively, with music until 3am.
Our take: "We always recommend Galaxy Bowling for whiteout days or when the kids still have energy to burn. Having a drink at the bar while the family bowls is a brilliantly relaxed way to spend an evening. It's also surprisingly lively later on, making it a great alternative if you want a change of scenery from the pubs."
