Flaine is nestled in the impressive Grand Massif ski area
One of France’s quirkier resorts, Flaine has a small selection of après establishments in which to let off some steam - although if you’re after somewhere seriously lively, then maybe have a look at our pick of the best après-ski resorts.
A purpose-built resort dating back to the 1960s, it’s nestled in the Grand Massif ski area at 1,600m and features Brutalist architecture - a style which often splits opinion. It’s largely car-free and has two quick funiculars connecting different layers of the resort (Flaine Forêt and Flaine Forum).
Flaine is a great place for beginners and intermediates (advanced skiers have a good selection of pistes to explore, too!) and has a reputation for being family-friendly.
As a result, there are certainly some good bars and a club, but don’t expect a party town!

1. Le Pente à Jules
2. Le Diamont Noir
3. Le White Pub
4. Brasserie Les Cimes
5. Le Flying Dutchman
6. Les Caves Nightclub
7. Le White Pub
8. Galaxy Bowling
The best bar for mountain partying
Take ‘partying’ with a pinch of salt here - it’s certainly not a Folie Douce, but there are regular DJ sets at Le Pente à Jules which attract a crowd for some dancing and fun.
This is usually a bit later on in the day, after many hours of good food, drink and lounging in the sun (at least in March and April!).
The best bars for live music and DJs
- Le White Pub
- Le Diamont Noir
- Brasserie Les Cimes
Le White Pub is one of the main places to party in Flaine. It’s a bar with a British feel to it, and regularly has live bands playing. It’s got a large selection of beers and has some good deals during happy hour.
Similarly, Le Diamant Noir has a good happy hour and lots of live bands and music. It’s a popular spot and also offers games and pool tables for when things are a bit quieter.
The Brasserie Les Cimes also has live music, adding to its already strong atmosphere with good happy hours and games.
Another good bar for a lively evening
Open most of the day, the Dutchman is a pub-style establishment which starts to get busy in the mid-afternoon, and stays lively right through the evening.
It’s got outdoor heaters on its terrace for those who prefer some fresh air, while it’s also got more of a mix of activities going on throughout the week - including pub quizzes and karaoke sessions.
The best nightclub for partying ‘til the early hours
Les Caves is the only place in Flaine which is open until deep into the night - 5am to be exact. It opens at 11pm and lets you get your high-energy dancing in without fear of judgement.
While there’s only 1 nightclub, at least you know that it’s the ultimate party place in town.
Best place to watch sports
As well as its live music that we’ve mentioned above, this place has got a large screen TV which means you won’t miss whatever big events are going on in the sporting world.

Best place for some fun and games
This is a great place to go if you’re a family. You can enjoy a game of bowling from 5pm every day (or 2pm on bad weather days!) while staying topped up with a drink from the bar nearby.
There’s also a games room with pool tables, and TVs with live sport, meaning you can keep track of any important games while also having a good time.
Later on in the night, Galaxy Bowling stays open until 3am with tunes going on for a fun time.
