Quirky and cool - 31/05/2019
Overall

We chose to stay here because we'd visited the bar area and loved it so much that we booked a room for the year after. Warm, cosy and quirky with loads of space for everyone, the hotel is very central, a bit of a trek for the skiing but most of the hotels have the same journey for the skiing. The pool was fab for after skiing and just before we went out and the staff were really friendly. I'd go back again.

Paradise over two counties - 04/02/2019

Zermatt is one of the most picturesque resorts in Europe! Clean air due to the location in the valley and the regulation against cars etc. Great runs connected with modern clean lift network. Excellent restaurant choice both on the mountain and in the village

One of the best - 25/02/2014

Zermatt is in a valley surrounded by the most spectacular scenery. The transfer to resort takes around 3.5 hours from Geneva airport as the only way in is via the train from Tasch. All transport in the town is by electric taxi or bus. This is a real community where people live and work, not just a ski resort, so there is a bustling main street with shops, hotels, restuarants and bars. The Matterhorn museum is worth a visit if you are interested in mountaineering. Probably the best resort in the Alps we have been to for mountain restuarants; there are some self service ones at the top of the Sunegga lift and at Trockensteg, in my opinion the best ones to go to are the smaller ones. I would recommend the Adler at Findeln, amazing views and very tasty barbecued chicken. There is a large ski area, not really suited to beginners, with lots of long red runs and roads through the trees. The runs are pisted every day but can get full of moguls if you are a motorway skier. There are challenging yellow runs for the more adventurous skier. It can be very cold and windy at the top of the glacier. Al in all this resort offers everything you need and the views of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa are stunning!

What a fab resort - 21/11/2012

Zermatt is very picturesque, no high-rise buildings just typical chocolate box chalets and grand hotels. Oozes Swiss charm, the restaurants are fantastic — you'd expect just high end restaurants where you're afraid to order anything in case you get financially stung, but that's just not the case. The Brown Cow is a pub offering affordable food, there's Burger King if you run out of Swiss Francs and smaller less formal Swiss cafe-style restaurants where you can have croute fromage and fondue etc, at an affordable price. It's a big town with loads if choice for bars and clubs. On the ski front, motorway skiing down into Cervinia, gentle slopes on the glacier and more challenging skiing on the route home from the glacier. All day you get amazing views of the Matterhorn. With skiing and walking around town it's a place just to cruise around... if you haven't gone then go :-)

An absolutely amazing resort, one of the prettiest Alpine towns we have visited, with excellent skiing. We stayed at Chalet Sunna which was very nice although the food could have been more plentiful. The transfer time of about 3 hours is acceptable for the end result! The snow while we were there was amazing, and all the pistes were immaculately groomed. I think that the gradings seemed a little on the easy side, a lot of the blacks should have been red, and reds blue etc so don’t be put off by the piste maps. If you do go take lunch up the hill, as the restaurants can be quite expensive. Despite this I think it is one place we definitely go back to! For an idea of what to expect our pictures are here.
