What’s new in the Austrian Tirol?

The amazing Austrian Tirol is made up of over 80 ski resorts, including some of our top sellers, St Anton, Mayrhofen, Sölden and Lech. Skiers will be excited to know that there are plenty of new additions for 2019/20 winter season! There has been a heavy investment in to the ski-lift infrastructure and lots of new accommodations, increasing the choice of package holidays available in the Tirol.

New gondola and fun toboggan run in Sölden

The Rotkoglbahn lift in Hochsölden is being replaced with a new, modern 10-seater gondola, giving quicker and easier access to the nursery slopes in this area. The top station of this new gondola will move to the same altitude as the Giggijock restaurant, and the piste down (from the top) will be widened to improve the bottleneck.

A new 7km-long toboggan run will open from the Gaislachkogel mid station at 2174m, running down to Solden village at 1377m.

New Rotkogkbahn chairlift

New chairlift, new winter hiking trials, and new chalets in St Anton

The Schindlergratbahn chairlift, between St Christoph and Stuben, is being replaced by a new 10-seater Schindlergrat gondola. A new winter hiking trail between the top stations of Galzig and St Christoph lifts will increase the number of trails in resort to 80km in total.

We have 8 new properties in St Anton for this winter, including 6 chalets, 1 luxury club chalet, and 1 chalet hotel.

New gondola in Kitzbuhel

The 35-year-old Fleckalmbahn cable car in Kitzbuhel has undergone an extensive renovation costing €27.5 million. The new cabins will now accommodation 10 passengers, up from 6, and feature heated leather seats. When re-opened, the Fleckalmbahn cable car will carry 2,590 passengers an hour and will be more energy efficient and quieter than its predecessor, with annual energy consumption expected to drop by an impressive 75,000 kWh.

New in Kitzbuhel

SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental invests more than €73 million into its lift system

A huge project to improve the SkiWelt’s infrastructure has begun, with a planned end date of 2021. Upgrades include: 

  • The Fleidingbahn in Westendorf will be upgraded to a new 8-seater chairlift with heated seats, costing €15.5 million.
  • The Zinsbergbahn in Brixten in Thale will be replaced with a new 10-seater Kombibahn panorama gondola.
  • The Hexenwasser in Söll and Salvistabahn in Itter will also be replaced, with new lifts running from December 2020.

New TUI Blue Fieberbrunn

The trending hotel brand expands its portfolio into Fieberbrunn. Opening in November 2019, guests have amazing access to the Kitzbuhel ski area, Saalbach, Hinterglemm, and Leogang. Guests will enjoy the BLUE Spa with free use of the finnish sauna, steam bath, infared cabin, relaxation area and relaxation terrace.
