Les Arcs hosts extreme sports event

Les Arcs hosts extreme sports event Ski holidays in Les Arcs are set to get exciting, after the resort successfully hosted its second speed-flying pro event.

The Ski Club of Great Britain reports that speed-flying is a new event that is rapidly increasing in popularity.

Speed-flying combines paragliding and skiing with paragliding canopies that are smaller than normal. The result sees skiers travel at up to 75 miles per hour down the mountain.

Born in France, speed-flying has existed for roughly five years according to the Ski Club and now for the second year running, those on Les Arcs ski holidays can see the extreme sports event for themselves.

The Columbia Speed Flying Pro was held recently at the resort and was won by Antoine Montant.

"I abandoned the line I originally planned, because it was too dangerous, so I opted for a more straightforward option. My aim was to ski the snow as much as possible," the winner told the Ski Club.

Les Arcs is a popular ski resort located in Savoie, France and is connected by a ski lift to the nearby resort of La Plagne.
