Skiers flock to Aspen for Winter X Games 13

Skiers flock to Aspen for Winter X Games 13 Ski enthusiasts from around the globe are set to descend on Aspen later this month for the annual Winter X Games 13, which kick off on January 22nd.

The three-day event will see some of the world's best winter sports athletes battle it our against each other to win a number of medals and prizes.

Taking place on the resort's Buttermilk Mountain, the games will also be televised on ESPN and ABC, with coverage also featuring nightime events.

The telecasts from last year's event were the most watched in ESPN's history, with viewing figures suggesting that interest in winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling is on the increase.

Aspen is one of the most popular resorts in the US and is home to more than 180 kilometres of piste, with 270 runs in total.

A glamorous resort, there is always plenty going on and the apres ski action will not disappoint. The resort is home to several lively clubs and bars.
