Summer Developments

Summer Developments With the ski season now drawn to its conclusion the major resorts are beginning work on their summer developments.

Avoriaz, part of the Portes du Soleil on the French-Swiss border, has started work on plans to build 575 new apartments and a replacement cable car between Morzine and Avoriaz.

The apartments will be spread between two new areas in the village, the Crozats where 371 apartments are planned and Amara, where 204 luxury properties will be built. The Amara area will consist of five blocks of apartments, a spa, day centre, bars, restaurants, shops and an under-ground car park.

The Crozets area and new cable is planned to be ready for the start of the 2011/2012 season whereas the Amara luxury district will be completed in two sections, initially for December 2011 with the final buildings and facilities due in December 2012.

Kitzbuhel, in the Austrian Tyrol region, is reported to have ordered a brand new 10 person gondola with heated seats, the first of it's kind in Austria, as well as a new high speed eight man chairlift.
